The most important part of creating a community center is knowing what your mission is. That way you know exactly how you want to help the people in the community and how to focus your programs to fit that objective. You must also confirm your singular objective with your organization, otherwise many competing interests may arise. This will lead to conflict in your organization and less benefits to the community.
Another important part of building a community center is getting the community you are serving to support you. If you do not get the support of your community in the effort to create a center for them, a large corporation with more resources will be able to push you out. This will also make it harder for the municipal government to not support the transfer of the property to the organization.
